The United Fishermen and Allied Workers Union (UFAWU) represents all fisheries related groups such as shore workers, fishermen, and tendermen. Over the years, the union fights for better pay and working conditions for the fishing industry.

In 1945 they advocate for a per-pound price for salmon and a uniform coast-wide price for sockeye. They also fight for equal pay for women and an eight-hour working day with overtime pay.

The UFAWU is a strong voice on topics of safety, fish habitat protection, pollution control, Indigenous fishing rights, and licensing.
